National
Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics

The Code establishes time-honored and baseline principles that come from the collective experiences of the members of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® since the Code of Ethics was first established in 1913. Those principles can be generally defined as:

FIDUCIARY DUTIES OWED TO CLIENTS:

Confidentiality: Never disclose confidential information without client knowledge and consent.

Accounting: Proper accounting of all client funds

Reasonable Care: Deal with all parties directly or indirectly involved with the transaction to facilitate the transaction closing.

Loyalty: Always act in the best interest of the client representing my client's position.

Obedience: Obey client instructions as long as the client's instructions are lawful and ethical. If they are not, tell the client I will not follow their instructions and why they need to be modified.

Advocacy: To be a strong advocate for my client's position to all other parties.

Disclosure: To disclose to the client all relevant and material information, including any facts that might influence the buyer to make an offer or a seller to accept or reject an offer.

I pledge to all parties to:
1) Be fair and provide honest dealing with all other parties including other agents, their clients and interested parties;
2) Be cooperative with competitors;
3) Be truthful in statements and advertising; and
4) Not interfere in exclusive relationships that other REALTORS® have with their clients.
